eSafety Alert – As this site includes a forum and share space, I recommend that primary teachers create a collection appropriate to the activities being developed rather than allowing pupils to search freely.

Xtranormal – Text to Movie

xtraThis excellent site enables pupils to create and direct their own animated movies. They can choose a set, actors, and music for their videos. Xtranormal allows pupils to control exactly how their movie will look; from camera angles to animations; expressions to sounds. The site is very intuative and user friendly.

Every Elastoplast tells a story!

Elastoplast, yes, that’s right, the makers of sticking plasters, have created a lovely site for children to create their own stories. The idea behind the site is that every plaster tells a story, embellish with a little imagination; a crocodile bite, an elephant charge and, hey presto an adventure is created!

Here is an example of ‘The Escaped Giraffe’.

Pencil is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source.
