Artopia

artArtopia is a comprehensive Web-based arts experience covering the visual and performing arts. Students can closely examine important works of art and take part in activities that teach about styles, principles and processes of each art form. They can write about the artworks online, collect art cards in a virtual portfolio and view videos of professional artists at work. Teachers may exhibit their students’ artwork in a virtual gallery and both students and teachers can communicate with other artists in an online message board.

Innovative Teachers

Thanks to Matt Boot for pointing this one out!

The Innovative Teachers Network connects a global community of educators who share a common interest in enhancing teaching and learning through the use of technology.  Technology in the classroom has the power to transform the way you teach, and the way your students learn.  It can extend the walls of your classroom to the four corners of the globe.

auto

Register and log-in to download your free copy of Microsoft AutoCollage. Very easy to use, AutoCollage creates a collage of photographs from a folder. You select the number of photographs to be included and AutoCollage will select the best ones. You can then select the options or simply click ‘create’ and watch AutoCollage do its magic!

Mapwing

mapwingMapwing makes it easy to build, share, and explore virtual tours. Use Mapwing to turn your digital photos into virtual tours that include interactive maps, images, and comments.

Of course, this can be used to make a virtual tour of your school but, with a bit of imagination, it can have all kinds of applications. How about a tour of the local area or a contrasting location using an interactive map in Geography? You could create a family tree for Henry VIII and his wives. You could create an art gallery of the work of your favourite artist – and that could be you!

Doink
